Scodro Writes Different Story, Captures 33rd Illinois State Mid-Am

Two years ago at Biltmore Country Club, Max Scodro (Lake Forest) held the Illinois State Mid-Amateur Championship lead by one stroke heading into the final 18 of the 54-hole event. A 1-over 72 round ultimately set him back, narrowly missing a playoff with eventual winner Will Hickey (Burr Ridge) by one shot.

This year, in the event’s 33rd iteration at Inverness Golf Club, Scodro was one shot behind the leaders heading into Tuesday afternoon’s 18-hole finale. Aided by past experiences, and a little bit of family luck, he authored a different outcome this time, carding a 3-under 69 en route to a one-shot victory over Jack Watson (Lincolnshire) and Dan Stringfellow (Roselle) at 5-under par.

2025 CDGA CHAMPIONSHIPS

Each year the CDGA administers eight championships and related qualifiers with Handicap Index® requirements, including the Illinois State Amateur and CDGA Amateur Championships. Additionally, the CDGA conducts an array of qualifiers for USGA championships, such as the U.S. Open and U.S. Amateur.

2025 CDGA WOMEN'S COMPETITIONS

Debuting in 2024, the women's slate is anchored by two historic events that have transitioned from the Illinois Women’s Golf Association to the CDGA; the Illinois State Women’s Amateur and Senior Women’s Amateur Championships. The female-only docket will also feature four net Women’s Tour Edge Trifecta events and seven women’s/girls USGA qualifiers.

CDGA Social Competitions are casually-competitive events are constantly evolving and are open to all CDGA members, regardless of skill, gender or age. With four-person team, two-person team and individual net playing opportunities available amongst the various Social Competitions realms, there is sure to be an event suitable for every player.
